James DavieDirector |
Mr. Davie is the former President of BCSI where he raised capital for the startup, assembled the technical teams and managed the development of the first generation pH products from concept through ISO certification and CE Mark, as well as the first generation DNA card. He has 30 years of executive management experience in the medical device, biotech, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as a background in basic research. His career working for start-up companies includes BCSI, Aptein (acquired by Cambridge Antibody Technology), ZymoGenetics, and Centocor. Within these companies he has held various positions including founder, president, and business manager with responsibilities for strategic planning, business development, operations, fund-raising, and financial analyses. He holds a BS in Biochemistry from Pomona College, and a Masters in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Trustee for Seattle Biomedical Research Institute and a former board member for the Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association. |
Justin FoleyDirector |
Mr. Foley is Managing Director, Foreign Exchange (FX) Trading at the Gelber Group, in Chicago, IL. After just 18 months, he has built Gelber into one of the most active FX trading firms in the world. Prior to joining Gelber, he was Head of FX Trading at Bank One in Chicago. He joined Bank One after a 12-year career at Bank of America and its affiliates in Chicago and London, where he most recently was head of FX Operations Trading and a member of the six person Global FX Management Team. Mr. Foley holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame. |
Donald L. GherDirector |
Mr. Gher is the recently retired Chief Investment Officer of Coldstream Capital Management, Inc. in Bellevue, Washington, which he co-founded in April 1996. Since graduation from Eastern Illinois University in 1973, he has been the head of a multi-billion dollar trust investment department for the Marine Bank of Springfield, Illinois; Equity Analyst/Portfolio Manager for the Public Employees Retirement Fund of Colorado; an Analyst/Portfolio Manager with Kingsley Jennison McNulty & Morse in San Francisco; and manager of the Tokyo, Japan office of Schroder Wertheim & Co. under the auspices of Schroder Securities (Japan) Ltd. Joining the Bank of America Capital Management, Inc. in 1988, Mr. Gher was the portfolio manager of the BofA Core Growth Equity Fund and the Bank of America Health Care Analyst. |
Jodi HansellCorporate Counsel |
Ms. Hansell has over 11 years of corporate counsel experience. Her clients have included large multi-national corporations, mutual and hedge funds, and start-up companies in the life science, internet, video game, music, and film industries. She also has worked with early stage companies seeking seed investment, as well as businesses such as Starbucks and Microsoft. Combining an undergraduate degree in Economics with a law degree, Ms. Hansell combines broad knowledge and experience with initiating and completing complex business deals, evaluating business ideas, business strategy, financing, and business development. |
Geoffrey HolmesChief Executive OfficerChairman of the Board |
Mr. Holmes brings extensive expertise in the financial management and operation of technology-based companies, with executive-level experience ranging from emerging start-up companies to major corporate enterprises. He is the former chairman and CEO of Time Warner Interactive, where he was responsible for developing emerging technologies into successful new products and services for the commercial market. He previously held a variety of executive and financial management positions at Time Warner and Warner Communications, including senior vice president of technology for Time Warner. Mr. Holmes also served as the chief liaison between Time Warner and the financial community, and spent the first twelve years of his professional career in the investment banking business. |
Harvey Hoyt, MD

Dr. Hoyt is responsible for business and financial planning, fund raising, and business and commercial development at BCSI. He has extensive knowledge of the blood storage industry, based on thirteen years at Baxter International, followed by nine years at a number of other medical diagnostics and supply companies. Dr. Hoyt has had a wide variety of experience in the pharmaceutical industry (therapeutics, in vitro diagnostics, and biologics) in R&D, technical development, business development, and general management at the COO and CEO levels, both in major corporations and start-up companies. He has had P&L responsibilities, formulated strategic and operational business plans, developed organizations, partnered with industries and universities, licensed products in and out, and raised investments for start-ups having been involved in over $150 million of private and public equity funding. Dr. Hoyt has played key roles in gaining FDA approval of eighty 510(k) and nineteen new drug Applications and product marketing applications. These products had annual sales exceeding $7 billion. |
Dennis Streppa

Mr. Streppa has over 30 years experience in global healthcare sales, marketing and general management. Prior to joining BCSI, he served as Senior Vice President/General Manager of Cardinal Health's Fluid Management and Gloves business. He has also been with Pfizer Inc, American Hospital Supply, Baxter Healthcare and Allegiance Healthcare. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Business Executive Masters Program. Dennis is an avid triathelete, terrible golfer and is looking forward to the Cubs beating the Mariners in the World Series. He and his wife Denise have three daughters and two sons and reside in Lake Bluff, Illinois. |
Kenneth WangDirector |
Mr. Wang is President of U.S. Summit Company, a marketing and distribution company headquartered in New York City and operating throughout the Far East. It is part of an affiliated group of privately held companies with interests in oil refining, liquefied petroleum gas distribution, real estate, food importing and other businesses. Mr. Wang is a Trustee of the M.I.T. Alumni Association, and a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Business School. |
