There are thousands of academic, corporate and clinical laboratories using nucleic acid extractions to develop and perform high value diagnostic assays for cell free NA and viral testing, translating into potential sales of tens of thousands of systems and multiple cards per system. BCSI intends to focus on viral testing ($1 billion market opportunity where at least ¼ of the market would benefit from the Card’s ability to isolate high quality RNA from dilute samples), and tests for other infectious diseases (a $5 billion market opportunity of which at least ¼ would benefit from the capabilities of the Card). Collectively, these markets represent market opportunities for the Card and related supplies of more than $100 million per year.
