NAE Technology

Pure Nucleic Acids, Hassle FreeTM – NAE System

BCSI’s Nucleic Acid Extraction System is designed to be “Faster, Cheaper, and Better” than other products commonly used for DNA and RNA isolation. The BCSI NAE System, pictured in Figure 2, is designed to 1) capture DNA and/or RNA, 2) rapidly wash the captured material, and 3) release high quality DNA and RNA (i.e., nucleic acid suitable for amplification using techniques such as polymerase chain reaction – PCR or Nucleic Acid Strand Displacement Amplification - NASBA).  Although the System is potentially useful in a wide range of applications and sample types, the Card excels at isolating rare nucleic acids from dilute samples. BCSI plans to take advantage of the inherent flexibility of the Card, adding additional functionality with the ultimate goal of using the Card as a platform for a variety of diagnostic products. This is illustrated in the combination of elements below: the current Card uses the DNA/RNA capture element, but BCSI plans to add sample preparation and gene amplification/detection capability into integrated diagnostic devices.
