BCSI Operating Team & Philosophy

BCSI's operating team consists of  a variety of  scientifically diverse biologists, chemists, engineers, microbiologists and life scientists. The team is goal oriented and is guided by principles of respect and collaboration.

While we have an operating management structure in place that drives ultimate accountability through a Management by objective system, each member of the BCSI team is accountable for meeting both individual and corporate goals.  In addition, members hold each other accountable for establishing and achieving relevant Individual Performance Management Objectives, that when collectively obtained, drive greater results than the sum total of individual efforts.  Team members look to each other to help remove all obstacles and issues which get in the way of goal attainment.

Following, in alphabetical order, are the members of the BCSI operating team:

Perry Hargrave

Biomedical Engineer II

Mr. Hargrave is a University of Washington Bioengineering graduate, and is responsible for the development and management of instrumentation associated with BCSI technologies. Prior to BCSI Perry worked as a research associate at the University of Washington Cogent Systems Lab analyzing tetranucleotide structure and developed temperature control system for microfluidic studies.

Paul Haydock, Ph.D.

Lead Scientist Nucleic Acid Extraction

Dr. Haydock is responsible for technical development of nucleic acid extraction technology. He received his PhD from Purdue University and did his postdoctoral work at the University of Washington. He has extensive experience in new technology development, product development, and nucleic acid amplification technologies. Dr. Haydock worked on the development of diagnostic assays for a variety of human pathogens. He contributed to an FDA application for a diagnostic assay for dental pathogens that could be used in a dental office. Another product for which he was responsible that detects certain toxic algal species was adopted by New Zealand as a standard assay method. He has worked not only in research and development, but in manufacturing, QC, and documentation. He helped found Saigene Corporation in Seattle, worked in the laboratory, managed research staff, and gave numerous business presentations. In addition, he handled new customer development and customer relations. He has obtained several small business grants and is co-author on 7 issued U.S. patents and several applications, and is co-author on 20 publications.
